Rachael and Sam first started dating 6 years ago during their Freshman year at BGSU. Rach and her friends were having a get-together in her dorm room and Sam showed up with his friends. The two hit it off that night and the rest is history!
When I asked the proposal story, Rachael said, “Sam kept a journal that he wrote in almost every day for a year leading up to the proposal. He explained in the journal how he wanted to propose to me on a vacation we had planned for the following summer. Each journal entry brought something new. He would talk about fun date nights we had, memories we both will never forget, and the nerves he had leading up to the proposal. We were finally on that vacation in the British Virgin Islands. We had a catamaran that we sailed from island to island and Sam waited until we got to the perfect spot. That morning he wrote his final journal entry saying that this was the first day of the rest of our lives. That evening, we went up to the most beautiful spot on the island overlooking the ocean to take pictures. As we posed for a picture I heard Sam say “You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to do this”. The next thing I knew he was down on a knee with a little box in his hands. To be honest, I’m not even sure what he said because I was in such shock, but what I do know is that I said “Yes” to marrying my best friend. Best vacation ever.”
Their Toledo wedding was romantic and elegant with a whimsical taste. The color palette they chose was champagne, tans, whites and pops of dusty blue with lots of greenery! It looked beautiful in their reception space at Toledo Country Club paired with the brown chairs from Your Perfect Day and the gorgeous string lights. The greenery from Gardenview looked absolutely stunning and tied it all together.
After the couple’s first look and photos at the 18th hole at TCC located by an epic willow tree, we headed to their ceremony at Holy Rosary cathedral. Then, after they said their vows and became official, we headed to their old stomping grounds at BG and took photos in front of the Bowling Green library before heading to their bar, Beckett’s. I love it when a couple’s priorities get to become a part of their day due to how we arrange the timeline. Nothing makes me happier than making your day go exactly how you want it to go! It was so nice for them to just hang with their friends before the fun began.
Rach and Sam, it was truly an honor to be your wedding photographer. I wish you both the very best!
