Lexie and Kyle’s guardian angels were shaking their heads for years at all the missed opportunities for them to meet. For their entire lives, they lived only 15 miles apart. They attended rival high schools. She worked at an ice cream shop near his house for 6 years where she met one of her best friends, who also attended school with Kyle since kindergarten. As seniors in high school, Kyle played his last basketball game at Lexie’s school, and she cheered against him. That night, someone attempted to tell her that “one of those Hopewell kids is going to UD,” but she never found out who.
Later that fall, August 2011, they both moved into their freshman dorms at the University of Dayton, still never knowing anything about each other. They spent the next 4 years enjoying the college life….Kyle spent his weekends watching games with his roommates and Lexie obviously spent all her time in the library.
It took a while, but when the timing was just right, their paths finally crossed. Lexie entered her fifth year at UD to finish her master’s degree, and Kyle hoped to sprint through his last semester before earning his degree in mechanical engineering. Having said goodbye to most of their college friends who finished school the spring before, they were unsure about how this last chapter at UD would go. It was at this moment, in August 2015, that they found each other. Once they did, they were inseparable.
Before they knew it, December came and it was time for Kyle to graduate. Shortly after in May 2016 Lexie did the same. They returned home to Northwest Ohio where they both found jobs and eventually an apartment.
Their wedding was absolutely perfect with a color palette of light gray, light purple and deep green, which was perfect for their spring wedding. Lexie’s bridesmaids were in mismatched bridesmaids dresses, which I will always be fond of. The rain held off until we made our way to a local bar called The Renaissance, which was absolutely stunning inside. To end the night, we even got a photo with an umbrella in the rain. It was a perfect day! Congrats, Lexie and Kyle!
