Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing Rachel and Jared’s beautiful fall wedding in Perrysburg. I’ve known Rachel since elementary school and any time I have the opportunity to photograph someone I have known for so long, I am truly honored. Their unique story has taken them across states and through the ups and downs of grad school, long-distance, and life changes. From the touching ceremony at St. Rose Church to the dreamy night photos under the grand clock tower at Levis Commons, this wedding was nothing short of amazing.
Rachel and Jared’s journey began in 2011 in the chemistry graduate program at the University of Toledo. Their bond started over coffee breaks and study sessions, gradually transforming into a close friendship that remained steadfast even as they moved to different cities—and eventually different states. From Toledo to Columbus, Houston to Denver, and finally to Raleigh, North Carolina, where they now both live, their story is one of patience, perseverance, and a shared love of science (and long-distance movie nights!). The years of travel and late-night calls made this day so much more significant for them and for everyone who has watched their love story unfold.
Following the ceremony, we headed to WW Knight Preserve to capture the newlyweds’ first portraits as husband and wife. The fall foliage was in full swing, and the golden light made for perfect photos. Rachel and Jared were a joy to photograph—they were so natural and comfortable together, and it was easy to capture their quiet laughter and affection. We even had a special guest join us in some of the portraits: Wally, Jared’s childhood dinosaur toy!
The reception at the Hilton Garden Inn in Levis Commons was just as lovely and thoughtfully planned as the rest of the day. Inside, the tables were set with elegant purple orchid centerpieces that added an enchanting, romantic feel. Guests mingled, laughed, and celebrated alongside the couple, sharing stories and memories in a setting that felt both sophisticated and deeply personal.
To cap off the night, we captured some nighttime portraits at the grand clock tower in Levis Commons. The clock tower, bathed in soft light, provided a cinematic setting for these final shots of the evening. Rachel and Jared shared a few quiet moments, basking in the glow of a perfect wedding day. These night photos captured their sense of timeless romance and marked the end of an unforgettable day.
Rachel and Jared, thank you for letting me be part of this beautiful celebration. Your love story is a testament to resilience, joy, and the beauty of finding your best friend and partner in life. It was an honor to capture these memories for you, and I hope these photos help you relive each moment for years to come.
Wishing you both endless joy, laughter, and adventure in your future together!
