Rachael and Tyler’s story started with a little online dating app magic and a coffee date before work. What began with an internet connection quickly turned into something much bigger, taking them from Toledo to Columbus and eventually back home to Perrysburg, where they now work together at Mercy Perrysburg.
After their initial online interaction, Rachael and Tyler met for coffee before work, and they’ve been going strong ever since. Once they started dating, Rachael moved to Columbus with Tyler, where they both worked at Ohio State for about two years. Tyler worked as a radiology tech while Rachael worked as an ER nurse on a travel contract.
Eventually, Rachael convinced Tyler it was time to move back to Perrysburg. They bought a house in Three Meadows and now find themselves working the night shift together at Mercy Perrysburg. After all those moves and changes, they’ve found their way back home and built a life together.
Their engagement took place during a weekend trip to Niagara Falls, although Tyler wasn’t exactly subtle about the fact that something was coming.
Rachael started to get suspicious while they were packing for the trip. When she went into the safe to grab their passports, Tyler got nervous, and throughout the weekend he seemed to be acting a little differently. He kept walking behind her and seemed unusually nervous.
They eventually walked to the falls after dark, expecting to see the nightly fireworks. There were no fireworks that evening, but the falls were still glowing in different colors. In the middle of the beautiful nighttime view, Tyler got down on one knee.
It was so dark that Rachael could barely even see the ring, but she knew exactly what was happening. She said yes, and the newly engaged couple walked back to their hotel, where Rachael immediately started calling her family. Her parents already knew what was coming, of course, and were waiting to celebrate with them.
For their wedding day at Nazareth Hall, Rachael and Tyler envisioned something intimate, romantic, and rustic with a distinctly fall feel. Burnt orange dresses, navy suits, gold details, and warm orange florals came together for a classic autumn-inspired palette.
They exchanged vows in the Grotto at Nazareth Hall before celebrating with their closest friends and family in Cadet West. It was a gorgeous fall day, and the warm colors and rustic details fit the season beautifully. During their ceremony, they had their rings passed around for a ring-warming ceremony that was very heartwarming.
From a first date over coffee to a life built together in Perrysburg, Rachael and Tyler’s wedding day was another chapter in a story that has already taken them through different cities, careers, night shifts, a house of their own, and one very memorable proposal overlooking Niagara Falls.
