New Year’s Eve Wedding at City View Event Center
Alexis and Curtis had the most elegant and fun New Year’s Eve wedding at City View Event Center. Their downtown Toledo wedding featured an outdoor ceremony that transitioned from sunset to dusk and ended with a walk back down the aisle as husband and wife in a grand sparkler exit! The day featured a black-and-white vibe with some gold sprinkled in (like the fun disco balls at everyone’s tables for dinner!). I loved the faux furs the ladies rocked and the sequined bridesmaid’s dresses and coordinating bow ties the groomsmen wore.
Alexis and Curtis were both home for Christmas break in their last year of college when they met. Curtis was at West Point, and Alexis was at Ohio Northern University. While they were home, they were both on Bumble, and randomly swiped on each other and talked for a couple of days. He was leaving for West Point in the next few days, and Alexis was leaving for Florida to visit her grandma until she went back to school. Alexis said, “Even though we didn’t know when we were going to see each other (not again, but for the very first time), we kept talking constantly. During the semester, from Ohio to New York, we had consistent FaceTime dates. When Curtis finally got a day pass away from West Point over Easter break, I flew out to New York — a Spirit Flight where someone went into cardiac arrest and I had to be the “medical professional” and give CPR, a bus ride from LaGuardia to Brooklyn, a subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan, a Hostel in Manhattan, to the train to Upstate New York. We first met at Garrison station across from West Point on Easter weekend. We knew it was something special, and we finished our semesters together, planning trips to see each other.”
After the sparkler celebration, there was a champagne wall made by a family friend! This champagne wall was their seating chart, and everyone received a glass of bubbly right when they walked in. Whitney and I had such a fun time with these two and their wedding party and families – we wish you the best, Alexis and Curtis!
