This past Saturday, I had the joy of photographing Kara and Andy’s heartfelt wedding at the stunning Twin Oast Brewing in Port Clinton, Ohio. Despite the sweltering heat—yes, we’re talking mid-90s!—this couple (and their crew) were absolute troopers, full of joy, laughter, and so much love.
Kara and Andy’s love story began in 2019 while working together at a foster care agency. What started as friendship—bonded over coffee and long walks between home visits—blossomed into a deep connection grounded in shared purpose, faithfulness, and a passion for helping others. Fittingly, Andy proposed at the Hoover Reservoir, where those early walks laid the foundation for their love. With champagne, flowers, and hidden coworkers capturing the moment, Kara cried tears of disbelief and joy, saying, “Are you sure?” for nearly 45 minutes.
Their romantic garden-themed wedding was a beautiful reflection of their story—personal, playful, and deeply intentional. Kara wore a radiant smile (and a stunning dress), while Andy and his groomsmen looked sharp in navy suits with brown shoes. The ceremony included a touching unity sand ritual, symbolizing not only the joining of two lives, but the creation of a new family. Kara officially became stepmom to Andy’s three kids—Aliyah, Isaiah, and Ezra—who were an integral part of the celebration.
The decor was simple and elegant: white linens, blue napkins, playful bud vases, and brass candlesticks, all set against Twin Oast’s lush grounds. Guests enjoyed a relaxed reception filled with dancing, lawn games, and wandering through the venue’s scenic outdoor spaces. A fun bonus? My own husband and kids were invited as guests—making it an even sweeter day behind the camera.
Weddings like Kara and Andy’s remind me why I do this: to tell stories of real, raw love. And this one? Absolutely unforgettable.
