Sometimes love begins in the most unexpected places — like a tattoo appointment. Jordyn and Max met in 2022 when Max, a Toledo Walleye hockey player, walked into the Airport Highway location of Brick House Tattoo, the tattoo shop Jordyn owns (now in downtown Toledo). He reached out for some new ink, and before she even met him in person, Jordyn already had a feeling she should pay attention. She thought he was a cutie — and yes, she definitely did some social media investigating beforehand.
Fast-forward to this September, when Max proposed before a concert at Red Rock — simple, genuine, and perfectly them.
Their wedding day carried that same personal energy. Before the ceremony, Jordyn and Max spent time together at Brick House, where they tattooed each other — a penny and a four-leaf clover inspired by the Chris Stapleton song Starting Over:
“I can be your lucky penny
You can be my four-leaf clover”
For Jordyn, a seasoned tattoo artist who has been tattooing me for five years (including my full arm sleeve), guiding Max through his tattoo on her (he had never tattooed before!) felt meaningful, intimate, and symbolic of starting married life as teammates.
They said “I do” at Simply Married in downtown Toledo, surrounded by 35 guests and their two dogs. Jordyn walked down the aisle with one pup at her side, while Max waited at the end of the aisle with their other dog — a ceremony that was heartfelt and beautifully personal.
As we stepped outside for portraits, snowflakes started to fall — the prettiest touch of winter magic. We stopped by the Huntington Center, home of the Toledo Walleye, for photos with the city lights and fresh snowflakes swirling around them. It felt cinematic, romantic, and so fitting for the two of them.
Then came the celebration at Hollywood Casino Toledo, where the night took on a subtle Vegas vibe — glowy lights of the slot machines and the kind of lively, carefree energy you get when people are truly having fun. It wasn’t Vegas, but it had just enough sparkle and casino ambiance to feel like a little getaway tucked inside the city.
From a tattoo shop meeting, to matching ink before their vows, to a cozy casino reception that gave the night a touch of Vegas glam — Jordyn and Max’s day was bold, intimate, creative, and completely their own.
