Planning a wedding from start to finish is tough work! I am sure you’ve asked yourself how you can save money on your wedding. Well, I am about to reveal my biggest trick when it comes to setting a wedding date!

HAVE A LATE WINTER WEDDING.

The biggest secret I can give you as a wedding photographer is to have a LATE WINTER WEDDING! I am talking January – March for most venues when they are the slowest (and some venues offer deals!). You’ll have cold weather and probably some snow if you’re lucky and into that, but not have to worry about the hustle and bustle of the Holidays. I am rarely booked during those months for more than 1-2 weddings per month, and I can safely say a Friday or Sunday during those months would most likely be wide open.

FIND OUT AS MANY WINTER DETAILS AS POSSIBLE FROM VENUES.

Thinking of a winter wedding? Look at halls and venue spaces (carpet too!) and see if it coordinates or clashes and see if they have some photos of the past few years it was decorated. Same with churches, if applicable. Ask them what they do about snow, ice, and parking in those situations. Your guests will appreciate knowing any information you can give them!

FIND SOME CUTE ACCESSORIES!

Dress accordingly for your winter photos – I recommend fun accents like top hats, faux fur coats, and capes! They add an element of drama to your photos and they help paint the scene – even if there isn’t any snow!

I hope these money-saving tips help you plan your winter wedding!
