Jess and Brian got married last Friday and it was epic! These two had a Summit Toledo ceremony followed by a Summit reception. I just loved their beautiful color palette of purples and blues and their centerpieces were made up of simple vases, books, and metal terrariums with some foliage, which were adorable and worked perfectly in the industrial space of The Summit. I met Jess when I joined a Boot Camp and worked out with her and her friend Mandy, so it was an honor photographing her wedding!
Jess and Brian met at work. At the time, Brian was with someone else, so despite Jess thinking he was so cute, she had to accept that friends was the only option. Jess said, “We ended up growing a friendship over the course of a year, before we both got transferred to different locations. Then within that same year, we were both getting transferred again- to the same place!” The pair decided to give it a risk and start dating! Brian moved back to Toledo, then after a couple months, Jess followed.
For the proposal story, Jess said, “We were back in my hometown for Christmas (Marquette, MI) and driving back home to Ohio, when he wanted to stop and see the Mackinac Bridge. Totally normal, considering he’d never seen it, and it’s a landmark I grew up seeing every time we drove downstate. It NEVER occurred to me that he’d be proposing. So we pulled over there and got out, and as we were looking, Brian asked me if I knew “what today was..” I didn’t. Haha. But he informed me that it was one day away from our 5 year anniversary of first meeting each other. He broke down the years and even number of days that we’d known each other. He told me how his life had changed for the better, and how much he’d enjoyed the time we had spent together. He said he’d waited 5 years, and he didn’t want to go another minute without me. He then got down on one knee (crying) (me too to be fair) and got out the ring. Before he could even ask, (I thought I gave him ample opportunity, but he’ll say I interrupted haha) I said, “Brian are you serious?” then asked if I could wear the ring forever. He, of course, said yes”
One of my absolute favorite parts of the day was when we snuck up to the roof for some downtown Toledo sunset photos while guests were finishing up dinner. Brian pulled out his phone, mentioned how Jess never had someone to dance with her in school, so he would dance with her. And the couple enjoyed a dance on the roof to some Aerosmith – it was so cute!
Congrats you two! Your day was magical and I wish you both the very best!
