I had the absolute best time photographing Stacie and Lauren’s wedding day in Baraga, Michigan. Baraga is located in the Upper Peninsula and was close to a 9-hour drive for me, but I was so honored to go up to Michigan and photograph these wonderful ladies! I first met both Stacie and Lauren back in January and they planned an April wedding. Unfortunately, due to COVID, their wedding got pushed back to the weekend of June 12th. When the couple learned my other couple for that weekend, my June 13th, moved to a new date, their wheels started spinning on how we could take a weekend trip to the UP for some photos of them. Of course, I was completely game!
The pair first met at NAMSA, a Medical Research Organization. They were close coworkers for a year before dating. After the first few dates, both of them knew that there was something special going on there.
On their second Christmas together and first one living together, Lauren told Stacie she had one more gift that she hid at the top of the tree. As Stacie was looking for it, Lauren got down on one knee. Lauren said, “after what felt like forever she said she couldn’t find it and that’s when I said that’s because it’s right here. She turns around gasps and covers her face crying, falling to her knees and into my arms finally saying yes yes yes.”
The wedding ceremony took place at the cabin the couple stayed at in Baraga. It had a beautiful waterfront view and Lauren’s best friend got ordained just to marry the two. Stacie’s friend did her hair and makeup and Stacie wore a beautiful lace dress from Atlas Bridal. Lauren wore a sharp gray vest and blush-colored tie (and of course, pickle socks). The wedding vibe was very calm and relaxed and only immediate family and close friends were present.
After the ceremony, we traveled to an amazing waterfall and took some photos. Then, it was reception time! The couple split desserts together and even had a pinata filled with alcohol that they broke open. It was quite a celebration and it was an honor to be a part of the festivities!
