We have been on such a winning streak for gorgeous Saturday’s and Kayleigh and Darren’s day was absolute perfection! It was perfectly sunny out and not a rain cloud in the sky. It made for some gorgeous photos and it was a perfect day to celebrate their love!
Darren and Kayleigh met in a Biomechanics lab while attending the University of Toledo. Kayleigh told me that Darren pretty much only attended the class on the days he needed to. The couple had to work with one another to complete a lab task and he officially caught her attention that day. A week later, the two had final exams. Kayleigh noticed that Darren hand his exam in and then she quickly finished my last few questions to casually catch up to him in the hallway. They got Chipotle for lunch and have been together ever since. Kayleigh said Darren also got a better grade in that class.
I actually met Darren before I met Kayleigh and a few days before they were engaged because I got to photograph their proposal! It was fun to work with them from pre-proposal all the way until the wedding day. Darren called me one day with a plan to propose and we met at the place he proposed (the gazebo at Toledo Botanical Garden) to formulate a plan. On the day of the proposal, I was to pretend I was taking photos of the two for a work event (spoiler: no work event was taking place). Kayleigh said, “We both worked that day. I had a cold. I begged him to let me just stay home. He bribed me to attend by promising to clean the entire house the next day. Couldn’t pass that deal up so I went along.” Love that! I posed them a few different ways before telling them to each turn around so I could do a “big hug” photo of them together as they faced each other again. Then, in Kayleigh’s words, “When I turned around he was down on one knee. It was completely unexpected. There was no work event. My family and his mother were there. We went and got dinner with them and Darren never cleaned the house.” Darren, clean the house after the honeymoon!
