Maumee Bay Photo Guide
I love Maumee Bay as a spot for engagement photos because of how unique it looks. It doesn’t look like we are anywhere near Toledo!
Maumee Bay is a gorgeous beach with lots of wonderful spots and the rocks by the water are perfect to stand on. There is also a field close by that provides another beautiful backdrop.
What is the best time to take engagement photos at Maumee Bay?
My favorite times to take engagement photos at Maumee Bay are at sunrise and sunset. The sky during both times is incredible and you have lots of privacy compared to mid-day (not to mention perfect lighting). I avoid Maumee Bay sunsets on weekends between June – August because it can get very crowded with other photographers.
Is there a restroom to change clothes at close to the beach?
It is quite a walk to the nearest restroom from the beach, so I recommend changing in your car or wearing one outfit.
What should I wear to my Maumee Bay engagement session?
I recommend not wearing shoes and wearing a formal outfit to Maumee Bay, specifically a long flowy skirt or dress. You’ll get some beautiful movement in your photos.
Can I get in the water to take photos?
Absolutely! I love getting in the water with my couples to end a session just after sunset or to have them sit on the wet sand and cuddle. It adds a super romantic touch to your photos.
What does sunrise look like at Maumee Bay?
Sunrise at Maumee Bay is featured below. We were the only people on the beach! I can do weekend or weekday sunrise engagement sessions at Maumee Bay.
What does sunset look like at Maumee Bay?
Sunset photos are more popular, especially in the summer. We start sessions between 7:45 and 8pm and it can be crowded on a weekend with maternity, senior, family, and other engagement photographers. I only photograph Monday – Thursday during peak crowds to avoid beach goers and photographers for sunset. Parking can get tough on a weekend!

Does Maumee Bay allow weddings?
Maumee Bay weddings are beautiful! They have 2 main ceremony locations and 2 main reception locations. For ceremony locations, you can choose a patio space close to a fountain or a waterfront location in the grass (not beachfront). There is a beachfront space available by request! For reception locations, there is a ballroom inside that holds up to 350 while the tent holds a smaller amount of seated guests for a more intimate wedding. Here is a direct link to their website for more info.
