Abby and Thomas shared a romantic wedding together at Nazareth Hall last Saturday. The Cadet West ballroom featured deep rich colors and lots of candles to set the mood. The main colors were burgundy and gold with creams and taupes mixed into the flowers and classic black tuxedos for the guys. The table numbers featured photos of the couple in gold picture frames from places they have traveled together. Abby and Thomas prioritized time spent with their guests for their wedding day, so the couple opted for a first look, wedding party photos, and family photos prior to their Nazareth Hall Chapel ceremony so that they spent the entire cocktail hour with their family and friends!
Abby and Thomas randomly met at an ice cream shop in East Lansing, MI during Abby’s first year of college. Ice cream turned into a 4-hour date just talking about everything from their families to their interests and goals. To say they “hit it off” on their first date is an understatement…the pair pretty much knew they had something special right away.
I asked Abby how Thomas proposed and she said, “We were on vacation with my family at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in May 2019, a place we go every spring. We had gone out to dinner and on the way home my dad suggested we go visit a famous lighthouse on the island in an area called Harbor Town, so we stopped there on the way back to the condo. My dad was in on the plan and was supposed to take a video, but somehow my parents got separated from us walking out to the lighthouse, so Thomas had to stall for what seemed like forever as we walked around on a boardwalk. Meanwhile, a HUGE dark storm cloud was rolling our way across the ocean and I really wanted to head back to the car. Finally, my parents found us and we posed for a picture under the sign for the pier with my dad pretending to take the picture but was really taking a video. Then, Thomas got down on one knee and proposed, and I was so happy I couldn’t even say anything and just nodded, and Thomas had to say “what??” to actually hear an answer! Then I ugly-cried for like 5 solid minutes while my dad continued to video us and my mom freaked out, she wasn’t in on the surprise! We took a few more pictures and then ran back to the car as it started pouring rain!
Congrats, you lovebirds! It was such a beautiful fall day at Nazareth Hall and the perfect day for a wedding!
